the whinning is strongest at idle. its occasional, and seems to come from around the far right fuel injector when looking at motor from front. its not like a belt squeeking, could an injector make that noise? the noise fluctuates with rpm as well. checked for vacuum leaks. can't find any. but its not a whistling so i don't think its vacuum/air related. any ideas? Car sputters or misfires at idle only aswell so its most likely fuel /injection related i believe. other wise car runs amazing.

could the injector whine or flutter making a whinning noise?
thanks in advance

Yup. It's somewhat common issue. Injectors sometimes whine. It can sometimes be a sign that one is about to go bad, too.

i have rough idle situations aswell, which would also be another explanation. Change all four injectors? clean them? or just replace the one? Or do you have any other advice?
thanks alot man!

take each plug/connector of the injector on at a time, you should hear a reaction (idle would be really rough) by the time you unplug each of them. If there is no reaction by the unplugging FI #1 connector den possibly injector is bad or wiring.

You only need to replace the one that's making the sound.

Yes but not too long. I would not take them off for a long period of time. When you take each of them at a time, and you get what you need plug it back in (connector) as possible don't let the engine runs where there is only 3 injectors running for long period of time. That's only my opinion.
