IMO the best swap for an auto car would be the VW 2.0t DSG. Think a ~230 hp computer controled manual. Lots of tuner parts and can easily make ~300hp on stock internals w/ just a chip.

If you want to stay honda, swap in a manual.

b18b, auto.

And leave it stock.

Auto tranny's will take a crap without beefier differentials. Not to mention be slow and have hella long gear ratios.

Default to answer your question

i have a d15b8 engine in my auto civic. when i do my swap i plan to stay auto and either go with a jdm d15b which has stronger internals.

to the other forum members, stop telling him to go manual. he clearly stated that he doesnt want that. some people just dont like a manuals for certian reasons. i got tired of having to shift all the time. with all that said, either post something useful or dont post at all.

You can find B16's that have auto trannys (del sol i think?) But even then their still sloppy and slow. I would kno, a kid we knew had a B16 that was auto, and most of us were rockin SOHC at the time, and we left him in the dust allot, lol. Swap to manuel!

The USDM Del sol VTEC which had the b16 only came in a 5spd.

To my knowledge no obd1/obd2 b16 came with an auto tranny.

Besides a b18b with an auto ls tranny might smack around a stock b16.

There are 5G and 6G Civics with auto B16s in Japan.

I understood the OP (and therefore I thought you too) were talking about USDM del Sols.

I was just clearing up that there are OBD1 and OBD2 auto B16s out there though.

No USDM auto GSR. The OP's best bet would be a B18B auto transmission or an overseas B16A auto transmission.

A K-series would be expensive and the auto transmission would have to come from the RSX if it's US. The H23 has an auto. I don't know about issues that H-series engines and transmissions might have though.

Well, it's difficult to point out the "best" engine anyway. We don't really know what he's looking to get out of it.

Turbo ftw. The added load of the trans will help build boost, will always provide a load between shifts (no lost boost), and will be cheap to replace as its still a d-series auto.

Otherwise, there really is no better swap than to a manual gearbox.

^^ well, he'll still need beefy differentials and likely stronger axles.

I beleive that by the time you source an auto b16 tranny. Or figure out how to run both ECU's for an LS swap. (one for the motor, and another for the tranny).. you could have done a 5speed swap, regardless if you wanted to keep the automatic.

are EX/DX auto transmissions the same gearing?
Unlike the 5speed.

What are you talking about?

You get an automatic B18B1 with an auto-tranny with an auto ecu.

Well, Thanks for correcting me.
When my car was Automatic i was too lookin for a swap with keeping it auto.
I looked into a b18 and only found anwsers about Two ECU's
In what cases do you need dual computers?

None. If your car is auto, just get everything from an automatic Integra RS/GS/LS/SE that matches the OBD of your vehicle.

I agree with this if you really want to stay auto. There are advantages with having auto in some cases, i guess especially if it's your DD. I'm guessing that's why you want to keep it auto, it's your DD???
