Default Help: Whinning noise

Today I was driving normally as usual and decided to kick it hard in VTEC for a few seconds. Drove on for 3 miles on the freeway and at the first lights I stopped. The moment I went off, my car started making this whinning noise. The frequency of the noise increased as my speed increased in any gear. Turned the car off and on but the sound was still there. The whinning noise is almost identical to that of the reverse gear when in motion. I decided to kick VTEC to see if it will help. The sound went away, but was back again after stopping at the next lights. What could be the problem? The noise is not there when I decelerate in gear, but it comes on when the car is less than 5mph to 0mph. I have a Spoon LSD and 4.5 final drive. The tranny fluid is Motul 90PA. Fluid was changed about 2 months ago. Appreciate any help.

sounds like bearings in your transmission.

Mine does the same thing... Happened after I completely destroyed a third gear shift (The passenger door came ajar, that's how harsh the shock was). Mine hasn't gotten any louder, it's just annoying as hell.

I wouldn't pay it any mind unless it gets louder. I had ALL of my bearings replaced after it happened, and the noise persisted. My guess is, it's the differential.

I have a clutch pack LSD as mentioned above. When I jack one side of the car up, I am able to turn the wheel with a certain amount of force using my bare hands. Could it be my LSD is wasted?

Doubt it's wasted, god that suck since it's a Spoon and they're not very cheap. But more then likely it is something with the diff, it's start there as far as checking it out goes bud.

The sound has not returned yet. I am hoping it stays that way. It could be my LSD in need of a rebuild.
