Default 5th gear grinding?

My 94' LX just started grinding recently when shifting into 5th gear and I was wondering what is most likely causing it? The clutch was replaced in like 2005 and hasnt had that many miles put on it (maybe like 40K at the most) so I dont think that should be causing it. Any ideas? It started out with the slightest little buzz now its a noticable grind. I do lots of freeway driving so I would like to get it fixed before I do some real damage to the gear.

I'd say first thing is to be sure the trans is full and has Honda MTF or 10w30 oil in it.
5th is on the countershaft and is "splash" lubed by the differential slinging oil up into a trough that lets the oil run down to the gears and shaft.
I'm not sure if you can get just the syncro by itself any more.
I rebuilt an early 90 civic trans not long ago and had to buy the whole set/cluster around $250.00

I havent had the car long so I'll try changing the fluid and using that GM syncromesh stuff. One question about that stuff though, should I use the regular or the 'friction modified' stuff?

I really just need it to last me another year or so until I can swap my H22 in, then I will be replacing it with a H22 trans. Even if the fluid change and using syncromesh doesnt do anything, how long do you think I could go before its totally messed up and wont go into gear anymore? It just recently started and I can get around it sometimes by double clutching. I just dont feel like putting much money into a tranny I dont plan on using for much longer than another year or two.

I've taken that tranny apart and the synchros are not attached to anything. You should be able to replace them separately if needed.

As mentioned start with topping off the fluid and if that doesn't work you can always double clutch making sure that the RPMs drop all the way back down to idle before slipping it into 5th.
