Default looking into a suomy helmet

right now i have a HJC CS-12 and am looking for something a bit better...here is a pic the helmet model.

now i know suomy has 3 different models that i was looking at. the Spec 1R, Vandal, and ventura...the vandal is about 200-250 cheaper than the Spec 1R. do you think i would be happy with just the vandal or is it really worth it to get the spec 1r for street duty? i was looking at solid colors because i have someone local that could do a nice airbrush job on the helmet if i wanted...

whats your definition of 'better'?

have you tried on the suomys?

your satisfaction with the vandal vs. the spec 1r depends on what you're looking for in a helmet

I had a Spec 1R. It was good. I bought it used and rode with it for a while. THey are light helmets with good ventilation. I believe they are not DOT approved; only SNELL. Ended up selling after a couple of months because I wanted some that matched the bike better.

Then I bought a brand new Arai Corsair. It was much more comfortable on my head.

BTW. I bought online and didn't try them on.. but I knew my size and I did research.

i have tried on the spec 1r and it fit great...the store didnt have any other model in my size to try on...im imagining that the full face suomy's have the same style shape for the inside?

i guess im trying to see if people who opt'd for the vandal series like it and are happy with them over purchasing the spec 1r...

im pretty sure anything will be better than my current helmet...

if you just want a good helmet for a good price, get the vandal.

if you want great graphics, ventilation, great lining material, etc. get the spec 1r

i think they're BSI approved, but i'm not sure how that compares to DOT or snell.

You can read my review of the spec1r in my signiature. It's a great helmet, but for me my head is very long front to back and even a size larger than i usually wear it still puts pressure on my forhead. It's a very snug helmet and makes my head feel secure, but after an hour i get a headache. That's why it's very important to try it on. I tried on an Arai RX7 and it felt really nice. The Arais seem to have a much plusher cheek pad that makes the helmet feel like it's applying less pressure, but it still puts too much pressure on my forehead. My shoei RF-1000 fits me great, so i think i'm going to pick up an X-11 just to try it out.

I just bought a used Extreme, and aside from the visor change procedure the helmet is badass compared to my last Shoei TZR (the anti-fog iridium shield is golden).
