Default What would cause this? (Same psi, but car so much slower)

Title rly explains it all. I was at 7psi and for example I would be neck and neck with vr6 and ****

Lately, still at 7psi, i been noticing the car feeling sluggish and not as fast as it was before. And to prove I'm not crazy, I lost bad to a stock mazda3 with 3 ppl in it.....

What could the problem be

is it showing 7 psi on a gauge?

if not, boost leak, if so, you've probably got a bigger problem on your hands.

maybe a dead cylinder or something like that? you said it was feeling sluggish... just how sluggish is it feeling?

I'm not bragging about being neck and neck with a vr6, only said it for comparison reasons.

Yes my boost guage is showing 7psi

By sluggish I mean, the car feels as fast as it did stock

And if I was running on 3 cylinders, wouldn't I hear it. My friend, when he was on 3 cynlinders, his car sounded like a lawnmower. Mine is as quiet as it gets

And another thing, not only does the car feel slower, but it takes another 1000rpm to get full boost...

what kind of oil did you use? on my old sohc setup i would notice a big difference in performance when i would use standard oil. after using standard for a little while it would spool slower and seem sluggish. but when i changed to synthetic it fealt alot better and didnt get that sluggish fel

92red - what makes you think its a boost leak? the fact it takes my car another 1000rpm to reach 7psi?

2red - Right now im using regular 10w30(my car is spose to be 5w20 but i was told 10w30 is better for boost)

And I also heard that synthetic isn't good for boost..?

And also, what about my spark plugs? I'm on regular stock ones. Could that contribute to anything?

sythetic is ggod, doesnt break down as fast as regular oil. and you should run ngk plugs 1 step colder than stock. your stock plugs should be 5's, run 6's. i think the part # is bkr6e.

could be so many different issues..
the most common one that will cost for you to loose power will be boost leak(like mentioned before) start with doing a boost leak test.
Another reason is, when did you change your plugs ? wires etc...
Also have you changed anything in particular ? run a less quality of gas...
weather change ???
had the car properly tune ? the car can be knocking and in result the ECU can pull timing which = car runs a lot slower...

dont worry about your oil. Its a boost leak. Recheck and or reinstall the couplings on the intercooler piping.

I have had this happened to me like 5 times on my old setup.
