83 Accord Engine swap
Hi there,
This is my first time posting so I figure Ill come out with a big question. I recently aquired a 83 accord 5 speed thats a great car but it has no power. What are my options as far as swapping in a newer engine? Or at least an engine with more upgrade options. Thanks for any help!

Was there custom mounts and all? I was hoping for an easyer swap, not a complete front end job and all. So I guess next question is, if I cant drop in a new engine what can I do to this one to give it some more power? Also are there any exterior options and upgrades that I can throw on here that would look clean? I am not gonna throw a wing on it or a bunch of stickers I just want it to look clean.
i guruantee you that a b20 couldnt fit without major modification. that includes drivetrain, mounts, ECU, electronics. and so on.......
i think your just too limited with this car. 83? the accords had only bene out for what 4 years at that time? let alone honda in general.........the first civic made it here from overseas in what 78? lol........

you're going to need custom mounts and a lot of wiring. So from that standpoint, it doesn't make much difference what you throw in there. B series is the most popular honda motor for performance, K series is the new big thing. you could even swap in a ZC.

Ok, so what is included in whole drivetrain? I dont have alot of experiance with front wheel drive cars, I have only built old mopars until now. Pics would be helpfull, and also what about the clutch, mine is a mechanical cable straight from pedal to the lever, i know newer cars have hydrolic, does this mean I will have to figure out some way to make a hydrolic clutch set-up or can I just custom make some brackets for the cable?

typically a "full or complete swap" is engine, transmission and ECU. Sometimes, depending on the swap, the company and what you pay, axles will be included. at any rate you will need to figure out axles. I'm also not sure what the wireing in an 83 is like but depending on what motor you get, you will almost definitely have to rewire the car. You may want to look into getting a front cut that has the dash and engine compartment wireing. that might make your life easier in the long run.

depends: some honda trannys are hydraulic, some are cable. there are kits out there to convert between the 2
