CRX HF --> SI Brake Upgarde. Grocery List Help.
I have a 1988 HF that I am swapping a b16 into this month.
I have CRX SI Hub/Knuckle Assemblies to allow for integra axles.
If I wanted to upgrade these very tiny brakes while I was at it, what would that grocery list look like, and could I pick up everything from lets say autozone?
This kit from fastbrakes is beautiful, but im not a big fan of slotted and cross drilled for a daily driver......

My last b16 CRX was a DX and I just went out and bought really nice pads, so excuse my ignorance here.
Any input appreciated.

stock brakes with some good rotors like brembo brakes will make a big difference
...sorry but i don't really understand your question. and yah slotted/drilled do suck for DD.

right, you need the calipers & brackets from a DX, LX, or Si.
if your timeframe for swappage isn't for another month, you should probably hit up junkyards or local or h-t classifieds for those parts.....that way you get the mounting bolts & all that good stuff.
those pieces are expensive from Autozone

hrm, you're right.
i grow tired of junkyard hunting though....
maybe i can get this fastbrakes kit with blanks for a little cheaper, im going to email them.

hey mike,
as far as parts interchangability goes, there is a list floating around here ( i think i remember it being called brakepartslist.xls but i can't find it) that has a good matrix for what fits what.
for upgrading the stock system, your best bet is to search the old archives of the rr/autox forum. basically you'll find that most people will recommend a good set of pads for whatever your intended purpose is and some autozone blanks. Leave the rear pads (or shoes) alone and make sure you have a matched and healthy master cylinder and prop valve filled with decent fluid (the valvoline synthetic is ok if motul rbf600 is out of the budget.
as far as getting the correct calipers, i'd recommend getting some trash oem ones and using them as cores for some new oem honda calipers. i've got a couple of old calipers i'll give you for free if you don't find anything before i get back and over there. i don't mess around with autozone calipers anymore, ymmv.
if you want to go the ex route, i can help you out there too.
as far as buying something a lot bigger, well, i don't think you don't want to on a street car. with that said, i ended up using a kit from fastbrakes, and i highly recommend brian for anything. i used a custom kit to get 10.5in rotors and a 4piston caliper under a 13in wheel. fits like buttah.

You can ask Brian for blank rotors instead of the cross drilled units and you get a bit of a discount. Cross-drilled = poopy, both for cracking reasons and replacement's sake. The blanks are only $40 a pop as opposed to double that for the drilled rotors.
Again, I'd recommend fastbrakes, but for a daily driver/spirited driver I'd go with the si fronts with decent pads and Ate Super Blue/Typ 200. I tracked my car three times with this set-up and it performed great.

http://www.fastbrakes.com Brian is a good guy. Please don't make the mistake I made by buying cross drilled or slotted rotors. A good set of blanks will get you a lot farther and there is no different other than the $$ you spend on them.
I would agree you should look into the EX spindles/knuckle for easy brake upgrade later. I have done it on several cars and absolutely love them on daily street driving and at the road courses.
Brian has what you need for anything braking. Hit him up.
