The manual say 105k for a '99 gsr...this seems kinda long? Anyone heard different or heard of any problems waiting this long?

 

60k is recommended, 90k is the max in my opinion. I replaced mine @ 89k.

 

you cant change it every 100k. if i were you.. i'd do it sooner.

 

recommended by whom? My manual recommends 90K, I also changed it at 89K. My old car recommended 60K, so it was changed somewhere around 60 (before I got it) and again at 118K. It all depends on the strength of the timing belt, and I'm sure the belts used on G3 Tegs are plenty stronger than those used on old 87-91 Toyota Camrys.

 

better safe than sorry. if you run your car hard then do it sooner. better then snapping a belt and bending all your valves. But if u drive it like a grandma then u can do it at 90
