Default d15b2 into 90 Si - won't start!

I recently purchased a d15b2 and swapped it into my 90 Civic Si. I used the d16a6 dizzy, d16a6 intake mani/fuel rail/throttle body/etc.

What are some COMMON reasons for the car not starting? It primes, and it cranks over when I turn the key but it's not starting. It has fuel and spark; I believe I have all of the grounds connected (Thermostat, trans ground, valve cover).

Also, i'm not 100% sure the distributor timing is correct either. If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Let me know what's up

Gets spark, fuel, and has compression.

Timing is correct on the crank pulley - cam gear.

Also, I don't have a clutch cable for real. Mine broke. It still cranks over though, would not having a clutch cable cause it not to start even if it cranks?

By the way, I know my description is broad. But ask questions and what-not we'll get it figured out.

Pulled out spark plug wire, put in a spark plug and turned it over and got spark.

Loosened the bolt on the fuel filter and turned it over, i've got fuel.

Where's my compression? The seller assures me that the motor is good - and I believe him. If anyone has some clues to what the problem could be.. That'd be dope.

See the red circle? That's where I have the ground for my thermostat .. will that cause a problem?

Thx.

Compression test came back as follows.

Cylinder 1: 125
Cylinder 2: 150
Cylinder 3: 100
Cylinder 4: 140

Why should I use the d15b2 dizzy? You've got to use the d16a6 (ODB0) distributor don't you?

i would worry about cyl. 3 buddy. every cylinder should be within 25 psi of the others. could be a bad ecu. that was the problem on my most recent swap.

I was considering bad ECU .. but its the same ECU that was in the car before and it was working fine. I don't see how it could've gone bad - I haven't even touched it.

And as for the thermostat..

maybe your distributor is 180 out and that would definetily cause it to not start so try and pull of the distributor and just turn the rod or whatever you would call it that hooks onto the cam 180 degrees.

I'll try taking off the dizzy tomorrow. I loosened up the bolts and took them out but didn't feel like getting too dirty since its 2am. I'll work on it some more when I have some day light.

I thought in order to put it off 180 degrees was to force it on - and i definitely didn't force it.

What engine harness are you using? You should be able to use a b2 motor just like it was an si.

i am pretty sure you can put the distributor in 180 out without knowing it because i think it will slide in just as easy. I have also heard of people doing this and when they turned it around the car started.

I'm running the Si harness.

Still haven't tried rotating the dizzy. I'm going to be working on it later this afternoon. I'll post results. Thx for the help
