EK swap inspection problem
ok i need help passing inspection right now my friend has a Ls in a EK running a obd1 ls ecu but since its in a 98 obd2 car the car wont be read by the computer when its hooked up was wondering how can i make it he still has his old Single cam comp and also a P06 or does he have to run a LS ecu obd2 and do the CKF wire mod. THANK H-T hopefully someone can help
i think i've heard of ppl using the single cam computer, but i'm not positive, i could be wrong. I'll ask my bro. he should know for sure. Someone help a this fellow New Jersey resident!!
Yes, you need to run an OBD2 ECU. Since you have an LS, that'd be the ECU I would try to run it with to get it to pass smog. You need to make sure that whatever inputs the OBD2 ECU is expecting to see, that you satisfy it...like the CKF for example. Not everything can be tricked though...
well what do u mean by inputs the only thing i did was change some sensor plugs and Idle Control Sensor or VAFC idk and mad the O2 sensor from 2 to 1 i have another o2 Sensor do i juss plug it and leave it hanging or does the 2 -1 plug thing should work???? i need more info if i have to buy or borrow ecu idc i juss wanna drive my car agen its killing me thanks EE_Chris and Boost_V for the INFO!!!!!

Well then, since it was previously OBD2 and it had two O2 sensors, don't you think this LS OBD2 ECU is going to be looking for two O2 sensors as well? So by 'satisfy the ECU's inputs', that's exactly what I mean - if it wants to see two O2 sensors (and it does), then make sure you give it two. And no, you can't splice one to make two. The second one goes after the catalytic converter (do you have one of those?) and gives a different output than the first one.

Your basically screwed royally if you dont know how to come up with a way of fooling the OBD2's ecu for the Crank angle sensor, and second o2 sensor. Also, if your second 02 sensor isnt behind the cat, it will throw a CEL for bad emmisions, which means you'll get flagged for not only high emmisions, but not pass for the check engine light either. Best advice, run OBD1 as it is, and just goto a gas station, pay your 80$ and get passed.

Well right now my only bet is putting a magnaflow highflow cat and a o2 bung after it and the ckp sensore bypass hopefully no other lights should come out right now nothing comes out anything else I have to worry about?
