Default 98 Civic Dx Exhaust- "give me some pointers"

I gotta 98 DX HB with the cat build into the header and was wondering, If I buy an aftermarket Header(like a dc sports 1) and buy a cat-back exhaust (like the apexi noir) will they fit together, but i just wont have a cat anymore?

Also any recommendation on exhaust systems would be appreciated

Thank You for the help

No, you'll have to get a more traditional under-car cat, and extend your O2 wires as needed.

Unless you've got some major mods, exhausts only make noise. Do us all a favor and get a quiet one like the Apexi World Sport 2.

I'm a tree hugger, plus test pipes are illegal.

So aftermarket Header, EX Cat , and cat-back exhaust for HB

OR what can be done is keep your stock header, but purchase a normal Catback for your car AND a (straight) Test pipe, that way you will keep your factory cat, and have the benefit of a full exhaust. Ive seen that done with Y7's. I personally had a y7 and experienced the same dilema.

a super nice alternative to the aftermarket header esp. for the dx is the 99-00 ex manifold and down pipe. you know it will be honda quality, you know it will fit and it will perform as well as most off-the-shelf headers. also you should be able to find a good used one in the junkyard or from the marketplace forum here. http://www.hondamarketplace.com/zeroforum/10

of course you will need the ex cat and cat back to complete the setup. as for the o2 you just have to pull it out of the loom a bit and route it. personally i like the way the heatsheilded ex mani looks on my dx. i've also got the gsr muffler which is a bit more open and has a shorter tailpipe. my goal is good used factory parts. yours may be diff though.

either way you go, what you are trying to do is replace the entire dx system with an ex system.
so just find everything for the ex and you'll be set.
