Significantly less than $1000.
If there is nothing in the engine bay, then it needs a lot of stuff.
Also needs hatch glass.
You can buy a complete running road-ready '96 hatch for $2500-3000.
The coilovers and the brakes would be worth more separate from the car than installed on it.

do you have a motor already to drop in? if you are in fact going with an h22 then get it. if not tell him keep it. like targa said the coilovers and brakes don't really mean anything once it's installed on the car.
