Energy Suspension Bushing review
I spent about 2 months installing an energy suspension bushing kit in my 89 crx dx. The car had some serious issues with handling due to high mileage(250k). Many of the stock bushings were nonexistent or destroyed. I took the car to get an alignment done and was told it couldnt be done....
On to the review...
Removal of the stock bushings wasnt too bad. I simply heated up the metal surrounding the bushings until they would smoke and usually they would fall out relatively easily. I would then take a dremel and clean up the internals.
The energy suspension kit was horrible. I bought a crx specific kit and many of the parts that came with it were for an accord. Their tech department was helpful and sent out the "correct" parts for free. The bushings were all far too large in diameter to fit even with a 12ton press at my disposal. I wound up having to grind the majority of them down slightly to get them to fit. Once in place the pins have to be inserted, which in all but one case resulted in the bushings sliding out. Once smashed into place and held by a clamp, the parts would still not fit into the car. The energy suspension bushings include a rubber flange that sticks out past the factory metal. From the side it looks like TT . The flange prevents the parts from ever fitting into the car and the factory pieces did not have this either.
Long story short, the install was a horrible messy experience full of cursing.
End result... fantastic. The car sticks to the ground like it is glued down. Acceleration is improved as well because I have much less weight transfer and less wheelspin to boot. The car is a completely different animal. It feels so much more solid overall and feels new. I am thrilled with the end result.

haha so it was worth it? I was going to use the energy sus. kit but it sounds like it was a pain in the ***. I'd like to know how the prothane kit is. I had the energy sus. kit but sold it to my little bro, his sus. was worse then mine. where did you have the most trouble front/rear?
I had no problems. did you remember to remove the inner sleeve? mine went in just by pressing in with my hands and using their lube and then hammering the pin in. the TT portion that sticks out does not interfere with anything since the metal pin is slightly longer. maybe you just got a mislabled kit
