Default Need Help.........Vehicle Speed Sensor Code

I have a 97 Civic and I'm throwing a vehicel speed sensor code. My speedometer still works fine and my tachometer still works fine. Anyone know why I would still be throwing a vss code when my speedo and tach have no problems? How could the sensor be bad but still work? I've tried searching but all the threads I found gave me no answers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

have you tried drifting in your fwd civic in the snow? ha. well. not going to lie, but that's why i threw mine. i was doing some mad tyte ff drift this past winter. i just took off the vss (located on top of the trans) and cleaned it off, and voila. no more codes.

oh, and i also removed the ecu fuse for a bit, to reset all pending codes. LMK if you still need help.
