no o2 sensor, can i remove the CEL?
i heard of the o2 simulator but i dont even know what the hell it is....
i have a testpipe put in about a year ago and i removed the CEL light bulb because it was getting annoying
am i losing gas milage because of this? i noticed a slight difference in mpg but not by much.
and yes the car is modded a bit, 98 gsr, i/h/e, pct pistons, fpr, blox IM. i get around 26-28 mpg city

just wondering if having no sensor can ruin....something.
there are 2 sensors right?....one before and after the cat, which one is the o2 sensor? and what are the consequences on not having them on?...
i see alot of people getting new o2 sensors because of horrible gas mileage.

o2 Sensor will put you in limp mode. Ie. you will run as rich as possible the whole time you are driving, so yes, fuel milage will decrease, as well as performance.
You're probably lying about your gas mileage... because that is okay gas mileage, especially without an o2 sensor... <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Arsenal »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">o2 Sensor will put you in limp mode. which o2 sensor did you remove? if the car still drives ok i'm assuming the secondary, because if you removed the primary your car would run like ****. removing the secondary doesn't affect anything, all it does is check if the cat's there. the primary is used to adjust the a/f ratio. removing the cel bulb sucks becuase then you can't check for other codes the car might be throwing. if you hate the light that much you could convert the car to obd1, that way the ecu won't be looking for the secondary o2.

i have a obd2 to obd1 harness with a chipped P28, im going to check if it still has a CEL, i just remembered that the guy that welded the testpipe also made a hole where a sensor was put in, this could be the primary o2 sensor :shrugs:
so if i changed this o2 sensor to a new one regardless if there is no cat, is the mpg going to change at all?

Make it easy on yourself, be sure that the o2 closest to the engine is in,
then just ziptie the second one to the underside of the car since you wanna run catless.

So you're already converted to OBD-1? You really should put a sensor in there and not try to band-aid fix or rig up something just to sorta make it work. Making it work correctly is always the best option.

so did you remove the primary o2 sensor then? obd1 ecu's don't look for the secondary o2. removing the primary o2 sensor is a bad idea.
