Default went for my first ride saturday

awsome :D
I did some serious running around all day friday to get the bike inspected, saftied, plated, insured, and my new handle bars put on. But i pulled off a small miracle and got i t all done (friends with pickups come in handy haha)

I went for my first real ride saturday. Went with a friend (has a zx6r) in the morning for about 30min on small side streets, then he headed off to his cricket game
so i went home, got a bite to eat and figured i would go on familair city streets for half an hour or so.
well i ended up riding for 3.5 hours and covered about 90miles of major streets with speed limits from 35-50mph 2-4 lanes. The first time a Semi blows by you at 65plus gets your attention haha
No close calls, no stalling, nothing Got a little worried when rain drops started falling, but nothing major.
I essentially rode like everyone was trying to kill me as everyone says. You have a pretty good view on a bike and can see general asshatery well before you get there.

I can;t wait for my full face to come, riding with a motorcross helmet and glasses SUCKS. Rain drops at 50mph hurt lol, and dump trucks toss up a **** load of sand
I noticed %90 of Harley owners won;t even look at you never mind wave (i have a Ducati Monster). There was a guy sitting in the lane next to me at a light, and he didn;t even look over lol. The ones that did wave where the hardcore looking harley guys wich suprised me

So why am i typing this and not riding? got up this morning and rain DOH

I know not as entertaining a story as i dropped my bike 4 times But i prefer this to that lol

thanks guys
i really really like my bike, i am so glad i did not get a 600CC supersport as my first bike. it was close, but the wait for the Monster was worth it
The ducati is so easy to ride, very smoothe power delivery. On a complety empty strech of two lane country road, i opened her up through first, second and third, lots of torque and it moves pletny for a noob, i think i shifted early too around 7grand (i think it tops out around 8500rpm). no way am i getting bored of this anytime soon . Gotta say, also glad i did not get a 250 haha

Going to go get some joe rocket textile pants today. My legs don;t feel that safe in just Icon jeans

Around here (West Texas) pretty much everyone chucks the deuces (the biker wave) to everyone regardless of type/brand of bike.

Congrats to you for a good ride! Sounds like you enjoyed yourself, stay safe!

good to hear you had a good ride. yea i hate harly guys, they think they better than sportbike guys and don't wave around here. but i wave anyways and hope it makes them feel like dirt. but just the other day i waved to a whole flock of em and they all flicked me off. i was like wtf. just pissed off they got screwed or somthing. for the most part though i just feel that if they let go of the bar the would probly lose control and die.

welcome to riding! get some good gear pronto!

all the harley guys i wave to wave back. even when i look like i'm dressed up like i'm on my way to Jerez for testing, pretty much everyone that sees me waves.

Yeah, you never know with the hog riders, sometimes they do and sometimes don't. I stick my hand out if they wave great, if not who cares? Hog guys also don't seem to let go of the bars much either, so sometimes they barely wave.

eh either way, i always give the wave, unless i am busy with both hands haha

Oh i enjoyed myself I am off work tommorow so i'll be going for another ride

i got some joe rocket textile over pants, Pheonix 2. They have padening in the hips and butt, and CE rated knee protectors. So i can ride to work with my dress pants underneath.
i'll see how that goes, i am sure it will be fine as i don;t sit in very much traffic.
Already have boots, jacket and gloves
Just need my helmet to show up and i'll be good.

to tell you the truth i kinda wish i bought a 2 piece leather suit right off the bat.
