Fitment issues...
Hey, I know this topic has been covered, and i've read all of them. Just a quick refresh type question. So I got my SI rims with Kumho Ecsta SPT tires (woo hoo!) mounted on my EX Coupe without spacers. I have about 1mm clearance on the front tires. Soooo the question is, do I have to worry about fitment when the breaks get hot + rims. I can invision that 1mm gap disappearing and have rubbing issues. I am sure the answer is probably the "get 3mm spacers" no problem, but i'd like to keep it as is. Am I going to have issues? I know that Porsche's often has gaps that small, but I don't think the calipar is made of the same metal as the civics. So, if it has clearance, am I ok, or just pushing my luck? Thanks
hey whats up man. glad you got the rims on finally
. if you have clearance right now, you should be good. even though it is only 1mm of space, the metal on the calipers should absorb all the heat, leaving minimal dissipated heat under normal braking conditions. i would take one day out and go lead foot on the brake, and then take one of the wheels off and see if it got really hot, just to make sure youre good. otherwise, i think you should be fine without spacers. plus the 3mm spacers, even though small, might throw off the balance of your car, especially if they are not hubcentric. i know that my HFP's right now are pretty close to my front calipers, i think i only have like a 2-3mm space. good luck man.

I opted to go WITH the spacers... way to close for comfort IMHO
bye bye to the 16's!!!!

06 Civic EX with 07 Si wheels and no spacers (extremely close and CAN in fact work that way)

But lets be safe and not damage the rim, added an 8th inch spacer (3mm)

how it looks w/the spacer in

got wide shots/pics??</TD></TR></TABLE>
hey just so you know, its EXTREMELY unsafe to put spacers that thick on without changing your wheel studs. your lugnuts are gonna get like two turns, which means your wheels are gonna have no thread to roll on, so one of your wheels could just pop off if you were driving hard. plus youre going to get retarded vibrations because of the spacers. i highly suggest you get longer studs, its going to cost some money for the install but its worth your life imo.

if you get 8 revolutions of a lug wrench on a lugnut ifs fine.
anything more than the 3mm posted above i would shy away from unless its a professional spacer kit.

ebay they are like 5 dollars.
ebay they are like 5 dollars.
Thanks... do I have to worry about ebay quality? Or is the 3mm such a marginal width that I don't have to worry if its hub-centric? Don't know, all i'm repeating is what the guys told me when I was gettin the rims mounted. Also, should I have them on all 4 tires to keep it consistent, or just the 3mm on the fronts (I know the rear is fine) just wondering about the offset. I'm guessing the 3mm really doesn't matter, but...
