Default Seafoam question...

Wut up guyz ...was hoping u could help me out with something. After reseaching a ton i decided to do the treatment. My question is can i use the brake booster line and the pcv line the feed this stuff into my motor? I read a few places to do that as to get it into both sides of the motor/intake manifold.

Heres my plan.... I'm thinking of going to the Walmart near me cuz it has a huge parking lot..i got pain in the *** neighbors. Plus i figured im goin there to get oil and a filter anyway. Anyway...i am thinking of first disconnecting the BB line and letting it sip in 4 ounces while my girl sits in the car to make sure it doesnt stall. Now once those 4 ounces r gone..reconnect BB hose. Then disconnect the PCV line and let it sip in 4 ounces (equalling a 1/2 can- 8oz). Shut motor. I figured im gonna let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then start car....Smoke show!!!..lol..i heard alot about all the smoke..i cant wait to see how much comes out my exhaust. I also recently just replaced my stock cat so i think it can handle it. Finally after smoke is gone, reset ECU (i also read to do this).

So my question is how does this sound??? Mainly the putting it into the BB line and PCV line. I've never done it before so thats why i'm asking, and no one i know even heard of the stuff!! Ive searched alot and couldnt find someone saying they did this, usually people say they just used the BB line, or PCV line...but not both.

BTW, im gonna put 6 ounces in my oil ( it says 1 1/2 oz. per qt. on can), yea i know i read alot of places not to put it in your oil, but im just gonna use it as a flush...maybe drive 5-10 miles on it. And i figured i gotta change the oil anyway after the treatment.

Well let me know what u think..Thanks!

Don't use it. It leaks threw your gaskets. I had to replace all mine in my intake because I used it.

I have to say your gaskets were ready to go before that. I have run Seafoam in my 3 Hondas with no single issue.
Most definitely change your oil right away.....
Dude, you have no idea how much smoke its going to make!
I drove down the HWY for 15mi after I did my 1st with no idea how it would be!
WOW!!!

I've Seafoamed my car twice now (little over a year between them), and both times I used my brake booster line only. And I let it sit 15 minutes over 10. And what oil/filter were you planning on picking up at WalMart? My WalMart only stocks SuperTech, Fram, and K&N filters, and only one of those is worth using, but it's too expensive. Purolator and STP make great filters for only about $3 at Advance or AutoZone. For oil, I like Mobil 5000 myself

Yea i was just planning on picking up my usual castrol gtx and a fram filter. I figured fram was a decent filter...i get the one with the black grip on it. I have a auto zone and advance auto parts near me so maybe ill go with Purolator this time.
I think auto zone is doin a thing where to get a free STP filter when u buy 4 or 5 quarts of oil. Im not sure tho if u can buy any oil??? Ill look into it. I was planning on doin this today or tomorrow.

So.....no one has ran it through both lines????

The only reason i am hesitant on doin this is because i get a little puff of bluish-white smoke only when i take off from sitting at idle for 5 or more minutes.... Im thinking valve seals..

Thanks for the replies guyz

I thought K&N made good filters for cars that utilize power at high rpm..aka hondas. Not true?

I would buy a Purolator but I would never used a STP oil filter...

The K&N filter is a good filter, but not price/performance. It's $15, vs the PureOne filter is just as good and only $5. The Fram filter's are pretty sad. On another note, Advance's TotalGrip filters have that black grip stuff from the Fram filter's all over them, but they're made by Fram

Bullcrap.

It's just an air filter...you really think that they can tune a certain filter to work better with a certain brand of car? Do you think filters for bikes that rev to 17,000 rpms are anything special? Not likely...

Update:

Went to Walmart to seafoam...WOW...tons of smoke came out!!! I did what i said earlier and put 4 oz. in PCV and 4oz. into BB. I just let it suck it up out of a measuring cup. I really didnt have to give it throttle, i just backed off when it almost stalled. Anyway it smoked for about 7-8 minutes..pretty much white..with a little gray. There was a huge thick cloud tho when i first started it.lol. People were coming over to see if i needed help!! I was actually telling this one guy about it who thought i needed help. I said " no thanks, just seafoaming my car" and he looked at me very confused. I ended up not putting any in my oil, just changed it when i got home (About 10 miles from walmart). I got a Purolator filter...just the regular one.. it was 3 and change...Even cheaper then fram so thats good. Thanks for the advice..btw. And i actually picked up Mobil 5000 oil. It's also Energy Conserving...(better mpg).

Heres the kicker...before i did the treatment i popped my intake off and opened the throttle plate and shined a flashlight in the intake manifold. It was nasty!! tons of black gunk everywhere!!.....Long story short- After treatment i looked inside there again.
Its clean as a whistle!! No joke..its sparkling in there!! Great Stuff!!!

First i used the Brake Booster Hose

Then the PCV hose (the hose running under strut bar and over fuel rail).

these arent my pictures, thats why this one isnt circled. Obviously unhook it at valve cover side. I would do both sides if u do it.. it just seems more logical to me. You will be amazed at how clean the intake manifold gets. Just make sure u look in there beforehand to see the difference.

Ive done it to each of my Hondas with no issue. If you use it in your oil just change it after a little drive around.
WARNING again!!! Be ready for smoke!!!! Alot of smoke!!! and then some more smoke!

What u can add to your oil?Im not sure I understand(no suprise).I thought it was to remove carbon from manifold, does it serve another purpose,or is there just numerous ways of applying it?Thanks for the clarity.

there are three ways to apply, in the gas(never tried), in the oil(change it soon after), and into the engine directly using vaccum lines.. its good stuff it really does clean, honda actually does this at the dealer and calls it a "carbon treatment" and charges like 50 or so I've been told. I never looked to see my results, but its petroleum based so wont really do any damage other liquids might.

I cant figure out which line you meant in the picture though, the gray or the black? I only used one line to suck it in, i think next time I will do both!

Add to intake to remove carbon. Add to oil to remove sludge and deposits. Add to gas tank to remove water and clean injectors

Is it ok to run some in the gas tank, and through the intake during the same treatment?

I have not tried this but i think doing it at the same time intake and gas, in the intake part I think it's ok cuz it would evaporate/dissolve that seafoam once you got your lude running in couple of mins. But in the gas tank side sea foam would remain in there until your out of gas and fill it up again.

Well I would put it in w like an 1/8 of a tank....go out and hit the freeway up,drive about 30 miles and then go top off with a full tank.I think that would use it at a concentrated form in the tank, and the top off would dillute any left over after the freeway run.Does it make your car run sluggishly?Ill just buy some and figure it out, thanks for all of the help.

yea i just ran it though intake....and just with doing that , when i changed my oil it was really thin. So if u use it in crankcase change oil within 5-10 miles. My car feels like new again..a bit more snappier too. The weird thing is i had a small blow by problem...i little puff of bluish white smoke after sitting at idle for a few minutes. I was thinking valve seals...Anyway i thought the seafoam would make it worse..But now i have no smoke AT ALL!! It also could be cuz i used a bottle of restore when i changed the oil. Thats a good product too.
