When I started, I found it best to just troll the message boards and see what other people did. I made note of what looked good to me and had the performance characteristics I was looking for and then went shopping.

Something that this car was never designed for. The only way you're going to get power out of the D17A1 that you have, is with a turbo or nitrous. And, it's not going to be easy, seeing as the stock intake manifold is made of plastic. Not to mention, that there isn't a bolt-on that really provides any hp/tq at all for the engine (that includes your intake and exhaust). The quickest way to get reliable power would be a turbo, and the most power you could get would be from an engine swap (specifically a K-swap, since you can't swap anything else into your car).

For the sake of not being redundant, please do some searching before posting.

LEAVE IT STOCK

PUT THE STOCK MUFFLER BACK ON, mufflers dont do shi*. A full exhaust, cat back or better yet header back is what you want. Now for your stock lx, exhaust/intake is POINTLESS and only VOIDS your WARRANTY

TRADE IT IN IF YOU WANT SOMETHING FAST!

Even with a full header back exhaust setup, he's only going to net about 5-8whp. Nothing he'd ever "feel" when on the throttle.
