Default Help with alternator upgrade

Hi. I will be getting a 95 Accord (V6) in the next few days. I was thinking about putting in a good sound system consisting of:

a Hifonics bxi1206d 1200 watt RMS amp
two kicker 12 inch l5s

Obviously, a system of 1200 watts would require a beefier alternator. I am not familiar with this car and its parts yet as it will be my first Honda. When looking for a HO alternator, I only found a found a few that will fit the V6 model for that year. Is it possible to easily use a different alternator from say a different year or model? How hard is it to make your own brackets? What do you guys do in this situation? How many amps would the new alternator need to be rated at?

Thanks alot. Any help is appreciated.

you do not need a bigger alternator for that system. Just install a proper sized cap and use 0(zero) gauge wire for your amp power wire and ground wire and you should be all set.

Really? Everybody else told me that anything above 800 watts would require an upgrade on the stock alternator (90 amp). Obviously the system wouldn't be punding a full 1200 watts all the time, but can any one else verify the answer given? I'd hate to buy stuff and then end up having an issue and have to spend more for the alt.

Ok you should do the big three under hood and upgrade your alternator do not use a cap junk you will not be happy with a cap believe me on that its mostly because the caps you can buy never do what they claim to do now if you were to make a cap yourself which you can do then yes it will work and work good for you just do your research and you'll be ok
