Default Tranny Fluid Leaking

Today, I went to put in my driveshaftshop axles had a hard time getting it in. So I tapped it in with the a hammer. Then tried to fill the tranny up with fluid it started to leaking at the bottom where the axle was at. I think that my axle isn't far enough in. My question is should I try tapping it in more because it doesnt seem like its sitting in flush enough. Or is my seal bad?

The driveshaft is not fully seated. I'd remove the driveshaft, ensure that there is no damage to the splines, then attempt to reinstall. You should not have to beat on it to get the driveshaft installed. If you do, there's a problem.

Tapped it in with a mallet? Where did you tap it? I usually just swing the knuckle out a bit and give it a tap with the knuckle (with the driveshaft in the knuckle itself), and they usually slide right in. I've done more transmission and driveshaft work than I care to remember, and I haven't had any issues yet. Well, one issue, and that was with an OBX LSD in a Civic, but that was due to the LSD, not the driveshaft.

Be careful, tapping it on the end with the boot could cause the boot to rip.
