Short Ram intake for 2002 Civic
I have a 2002 Civic LX that I got not too long ago. I was wondering how restricting the stock air intakes are on these engines? Would a short ram air intake help much for horsepower and mileage? I had one on my previous 1993 Civic, and it did help some. Just wondering if I would get a bit of performance on my 2002. Thanks.

Most people will tell you to just get a drop in K&N filter, which is a great idea. If you have your mind set on getting an intake, I suggest the AEM shortram. It will net you a whopping 1hp and maybe a little better milage depending that you dont drive it hard just to hear the sound. Look around, ive gotten new ones on here for like 60-70 bucks. Good luck.
In what paradoxical timeline does the year 2002 fall between the years 1992 and 2000?
You're not going to get any real gain from an intake, maybe 1-2 hp at the crank .... which equal out to nothing at the wheels. The butt dyno is the only reliable measurement device for the 'fast' you gain from intakes.

I probably won't worry about putting one in for my 2002 then. Also, I apologize for putting this in the wrong section. Didn't notice that I did till after I posted.

No worries. It's an easy fix.

No worries. Yeah, intakes aren't really all they're cracked up to be. I actually purchased a stock airbox for my B18B1 because it came with an intake that I thought was:
A) Ugly
B) Sounded Bad
C) Had a crappy filter.
It's all about what you want. Your car isn't going to preform noticeably different either way.
