I do it all the time and always have. Whats the point of downshifting to a gear where you don't have power? Hondas need to be revved to make power, they were made for it. I don't think any problems will arise from doing so.

I try to conserve gas alot. cause its shooting up there now a days. It just kinda feels different to double downshift sometimes. I am gonna try to plan my downshifts right at 5800 then
If your cruising at about 80 in 6th, you can easily jump to 4th and be in your powerband. If your cruising at 40-50 in fifth you can jump to third with no problem. Gas is killing me too, I think everyone will agree with you on that

gas prices suck, but which is better... spending an extra couple of bucks at the pump or potentially getting in a wreck because u didnt speed up quick enough? that or you could just slow down and come to a stop on the shoulder until traffic has subsided
even if u do mess something up, WARRANTY.

i dont have an Si so i dont know where the gears top out at. but you do so you should know. i know my 3rd gear goes up to 93 so when i need a burst of speed (lol) 3rd gear is usually where i end up at. or drop into my 2nd gear if im going slower than 57.
but no it doesnt really hurt your car. if you do it alot, then try to rev match, so you clutch wont get worn so fast, and so it wont jerk

I drive alot (120 miles a day) on the highway/backroads and do alot of downshifting and my gas mileage always stays around 30-32 mpg. The best way to save fuel is to stay under 80 on the highway and don't Redline every gear every shift on the backroads.
What I mean to say is down shifting every once in awhile isn't going to kill your overall gas mileage...so don't be afraid to downshift if your life/car is in peril!!!

Stop believing everything you hear..
down shift into whatever gear you want ( except 1st) as long as you are not over-revving the motor.
