Default IAVC Clean out/idle/battery questions

Ok here is my deally. Begining of the week my battery light came on on my 1991 crx HF. Ok so I checked under the hood to see if connections were loose and found out that it needed a good cleaning. Started up my car, it was fine untill I started driving to work then the light came on again but this time when I would be at a stop light the idle started to sound like my car wanted to die. Now I start to scratch my head. Get to work and started to look at my wires again, nothing is wrong. So I got to are mechanics and ask them to charge my battery. Waited a good couple hours and got a phone call from them saying its good to go. Installed it, everything is fine. NOW, the next morning did the same thing, battery light came on, weird idle. Called my dad ask him to pick me up a battery while I was at work thinking that the battery was shot and needed a new one. Installed new battery, let it idle for a couple minutes, drove around the parking lot, then same thing!! So I came to my office, googled "idle problems with crx" found answer. Cleaned my IAVC, reinstalled into car, all good in the hood. Long story short.....

Will the IAVC being dirty/bad cause my battery to lose charge while I am driving? I just want to make sure that if this is the problem I wont have to go under the hood and change my alternator.

i hate to say it man, but it sounds like the alternator to me. i'd have it tested (free at autozone or any parts supplier)
