First off, I have a 96 civic lx auto...

I just had a couple questions I was hoping yall can answer.

My friend said he'd paint my wipers because he had done it on his truck and so i gave like $20 to paint them. He did a good job except there are tiny specks of black primer on my hood! I have a silver car so it's kinda noticeable. And then later, he says he can get it off with a sponge and he rubs it and takes some paint off!!! so now i have black specks and tiny scratch marks on my hood... Can I do anything to fix either of my problems? should I just get a repainted?

also, has anyone ever installed an idle pulley? is it difficult? Any special tools?

Wow that sucks... wax and buffe the **** out of your hood .. or get it replainted... and do you mean a crank pulley?

 

should have taken the wiper arms off first. its only a nut an arm.

 

Yeah he should have taken them off.

As far as getting it off your paint, try claybar and an orbital polish. Some goof-off won't hurt either.

Paint thinner should be your last resort.

 

claybar for sure. it works well just you arm will kill if you have alot to cover.

I'm a 125 lb girl and clay barring doesn't kill my arms. I Imagine you're pressing too hard and putting more work into it than you have to.


Here's what the OP should do:

Wash the car.

Clay bar the entire car. Look at an auto supply store for an overspray bar.

A polish won't hurt either.

Glaze now if you wish to (this will hide some scratches and bring back the wet look to your paint).

And follow with wax to protect the work.


Remember, wax DOES NOT clean. If you think it cleaned it probably has more to do with you rubbing anything over the part than it being wax. Polish or a clay bar will work much better for cleaning than wax will.

 

My brother and I just used turtle wax's new Liquid claybar on his car. Worked really well. Even still, I think you want actual claybar for this. It has the consistency of clay, hence, "claybar"

Mine's a '98 Civic and besides a few flaws up front (chips, and Honda fucked up when they repainted the factory bumper sometime awhile before I got it), it's definately not needing a new paint job.
