Primary 02 sensor burnt out again...
I've had an issue with burning out primary 02 sensors every couple of years. The first time this happened I replaced it with an oem unit, then acouple of years later I put an aftermarket Bosch unit. Usually when this would happen the car would just stall, when I was rolling off the throttle.
Now 2 years after I put the Bosch my car started to hesitate badly. As soon as I go WOT at high rpm it throw a CEL. The car then has noo power what so ever at part throttle, low rpm operation. I pulled the code and it says 02 sensor number 1. Then as soon as I restart the car, the CEL turns off.
Could there be any other underlying problems? Is burning through so many oxygen sensors normal?
(Car is a stock 97' hatchback with a stock D16Y7 with only an intake.)

most deff not normal... i hear using the HELP o2 sensor thinggy <love the term does some good for civics and the cel's look into it.. can get it at any local auto store. couple bucks. GL
How many miles did you put on each O2 before replacing it? Are you saying you got a Code 1 each time and that's when you replaced the O2?
First failure was around 50 or 60 thousand miles. Then it did it again around 70 or 80. And now I'm at 97 thousand. They were replaced after the CEL was thrown and the car starting running like crap.
