how many of u have gone from a liter size bike down to 600/750, or the other way around. im riding a 1200 and considering moving down to a smaller bike for gas mileage and the twisties. if u could have only one bike for commuting/weekends what would it be and size. im just curious of the rider mentality in here and also im bored at work
I think 600's make great bikes... not sure that any more power is needed for the street.
That said, I could be swayed from 600's with a Triumph 675, 04-05 GSXR 750, or a mid-size twin (Duc 848 thats supposedly on the way) or even the 750cc Aprilia naked bike on the way.

the great thing about the 675 is that it's got the power of a 750 in the midrange, but is the 2nd lightest 600-ish cc bike on the market (only the new 600rr is lighter) so it's definitely flickable.
and it be so hawtttt

I just came off an RC51 and now i'm riding an SV650s, and i'm happy. The 650 has got plenty of torque for pushing me around, and it's super nimble which is great fun on twisty roads.
I really wish more manufacturers offered odd sized vtwins like a 750 or 800 in a sportbike package. I may just have to crack open the engine on my 650 and change it

I don't know what's different other than the paint, but I saw one on CL and it looks pretty cool

I went from a 1st gen sv650s, to a RC51. I love my bike, but I wish it had less power, like 800cc. My next bike will def be smaller and less cc's. 800cc vtwin would be prefect, or if I go the I4 route a 600.

848!
i hear the next daytona will be a 1055 triple, which would suck. well, it wouldn't suck, since the 1055 motor is great, but i think an 800 triple would be perfect.

ok let me get this straight...you want to move from your heavy 1200cc bandit that's slow and transition to a 600 or 750cc true sportbike?? I think you'll find that modern 600s would blow your bandit away in both a straight line and in the corners...im confused now.

I should have said I wanted a reliable and affordable 800cc twin
I don't have any issues with Triumph though

I would think that would sell better than the GS500.

heres a list of bikes ive ridden
98 zx6r
05 gsxr 600
91 vfr 750
04 vfr 800
97 rf900r
02 superhawk
00 bandit
01 busa
the most fun i had was on mine and the vfrs
ive been on enough bikes to figure out what i like, and a 600 powerband isnt thrilling enough to have one as my main bike.

i went from a 954RR to a 1000RR to a GSXR600..
why? insurance is cheaper, i can go pretty much just as fast on a track - being able to focus on technique more than hitting turn points & hamfisting the throttle..
more revs are fun to play with but yes i miss the power of course. thats what sprockets are for though.

Ive had a zx7r, cbr929, f4i, and now my 636.
929 was ridiculously fast. it was fun buzzing around on the highway, but that was it.... it was easily upset, and headshake is something fireblades know all too well.
my favorite so far has been the 636. I stunt, and am not into dragging knees, so its great for me. light(er), nimble, and plenty of power...moreso than my f4i.
anddddd.....................picture.

i might be dumb enough to fall for the 848. though, that's if i'm a little smarter than getting a used MV 750
triumph motors are fairly reliable. less of a headache than a duck, but more work than a honda. depends on the bike, there's been some weird reports from the 675 world about dumb problems.

i think having a liter bike is rediculous. there is no real reason to have one. a 600 is far more fun and yeah. i asked a guy last weekend why he wanted an R1 if he could (on a 600) pull out of the subdivision and hit 140mph before he got to the stop light. his reply was, "so i can get there faster"
ive had liter bikes in the past and right now im on a 919 but i would much rather have a 600. i just haven't got around to selling it yet. i could see going to a 750 for a little more bottom end but a 1000 is just too hard for most people to ride correctly.
