F22 in a 92 lude
Ok so with my flame suite on and me being aparently retarded and not finding what i wanted in the search feature...
Can someone tell me something about my car.
Its a 92 lude (bought yesterday) has a F22 motor and has been switched from an auto to a 5spd. This is ovbiously a 2.2l DOHC motor but i know nothing else...
what kinda power did it produce new? what did it come in from the factory? also what years was it available in that vehicle? is this a good motor?
my car runs well and idles around 1200rpm which i plan on adjusting down a tad if i can. I would say I am quite mechanically inclined and very knowledgable (tho it appears i cant spell)
Thanks yall this is my first honda and would like to know as much as possible.

I used to live in Bedford TX
The F22 came stock in this model Prelude in all 4 years and it makes about 135 hp and 142 ft/lbs. It is the weakest of the Prelude engines, but it holds up better than the other if boosted because it has iron sleeves in the block.
Check out the Prelude FAQs for all the info you will need about your car.

Well he said it's DOHC motor, so I'm guessing it's the F22b which is fairly similar to the H23a1 correct? If so:
Max power: 160 hp (119 kW) @ 6000 rpm
Max torque: 148 ft·lbf (200 Nm) @ 5000 rpm
Taken from Wikipedia.
And Low-Life your car should have a stamp on it indicating what model it is, S, Si, VTEC, one of those.
Have fun with the car, and search for more information.

My mistake, I missed the DOHC part. Someone definately swapped that F22B in there...
There is a sticker on the door jamb that will tell you what trim level the car is.

Ok I am also under the impression this is a NON V-Tec motor...
that being said are the V-tec and non V-tec exhaust manifolds the same?
I would like to do a couple look good / performance bolt ons.
Like a header and full exhaust.
Also on the door jamb it had the spare and tire placecard and the vin number and production date? what am i looking for in that?

Yes, it's a nonVTEC engine, try not to call it V-tec. No the manifolds are not the same, and mine says 'airbag type: Si' on my door jamb indicating it's an Si.

Yeah, don't feel bad mine is an S too, only the cool kids lock their doors with their hands :]
And don't go out and buy any random manifold that you are told is non vtec, you have to buy that fits your engine, I don't know if the H23 manifold is interchangeable between f22b and the h23 but I doubt it.
But be happy you have the F22B instead of the F22a1 I have

Actually the F22B uses the same head as the H23 non-VTEC and all parts are interchangable.

Hey, I was browsing thru the threads and saw that you had a f22a. I'm a newbie. I jus got my 92 prelude a couple of days ago. I have to replace my motor and am trying to do all the research. The original motor is an f22a. I was wondering what was so bad about it besides the fact that its the weakest? I'm not really looking for performance, I just want a good engine that will last.
