I got ALOT of white smoke coming out of my exhaust. everytime i come to a compleste stop, then when i accelerate i see all this white smoke in my rear view mirror. Blown piston rings maybe? some feedback would be cool. THANKS

 

Blue smoke is usually a sign of piston wear , white is most probaly steam hense burning water , usually white smoke is cause by condensation and water collecting in the exhaust pipe causing it to burn off when started, if a lot of steam is pooring out constanly when at temperature consider doing a compressin test to check for a blow head gasket . check your water levels and depending where the head gasket has blown if at all check water isnt mixing with the oil a simple check is just look wether the oil is a milky colour .

 

nice explanation, but simply put, Blue smoke = Oil and possible bad rings, White Smoke = Coolant and a possible blown head gasket, do as he said and check the oil for a milky color and to a compression check

 

I just got told today by a guy in my class that when I was Razzin on my car today at lunch when I was infront of him a bit of white smoke was comming outa my exhaust. But when I drive normal , nothing. I need it to last me till November, because Im taking the motor out and rebuilding it then.

Why would it only smoke when I razz it and not all the time? (White)

 

blue smoke? i never heard of that before, is the color actually blue? but anyways i seem to be losing ALOT of oil too. I add one quart every other week.

 

i have a question about this. i made a thread about white smoke and was told that it could just be running rich if its just a little which it is. Its only burning a little white smoke. My car never over heats at all and i drained the oil and absolutely no coolant is in it. its black as hell so the head gasket is good. However my timing belt is way over due for a change. rest assure its already scheduled for a change in the next week. Is it possible that the water pump is already crapped out because i do have condensation in the muffler and a few drops of water collect in the tip while at a stand still.

Blue smoke = burning oil
Black smoke = running rich
White smoke = burning coolant

 

ok so i guess im burning coolant then. How is this possible to happen and how can i fix this problem?. THANKS

sounds like a head gasket for sure my buddies 99 grand am had a blown head gasket and instead of the army using smoke grenades they started backing this car up into fights thats about how bad it was

 

ok cool, imma get that gasket changed then. But other then that I see water beads in my exhaust pipe

People need to quit with the VTAK its pretty lame......IMO.
Also keep in mind that not all of us are blessed with living in the USA! Some people (OP razzin) live not in the US.....Youre from Canada and understand the lingo EH?!?!

Little VTEC CLOUD is a norm because of the Fuel Map changeover.....White smoke at idle when you 1st start up is condensation, white smoke at cruising is a head gasket leaking.

lol sorry to start a big efight with my lingo. Im from New Brunswick Canada, we must have different slang here in the Maritimes then you guys do in the states. Razzin on your car means Driving you car hard and agressive.

here is some.

It might be like mine. i made a bunch of these threads hoping for answers. As stated already

1. it could be your head gasket is gone and leaking colant into your cylinders. drain your oil, if it is cloudy it is the above. also you would have over heating issues

2. It could be like me, your car has not been driven for 2 years and on start up there is white smoke that was never there before. Condensation build up in the exhaust that will go away.

3. If it is blue your rings are toast and your going to need to do a bottom end build.
