Default timing tensioner

How do u lock up the tensioner on a h22a4 prelude 97 we got the timing belt on but then the tensioner wouldnt pop up can any one shed some light on this. Need help asap. thanks in advance

what do you mean by lock it up? the correct way when installing it (the auto tensioner) is to remove the service bolt on the bottom and unscrew the spring loaded plunger (to retract the tensioner) and then install the holding tool and replace the service bolt.

then you install the timing belt and the tensioner and when you have it all lined up remove the holding tool and the plunger automatically unscrews and applies tension. after turning the motor over several times by hand the belt will be properly tensioned.
