You just put a wire or paperclip in the two holes, like it says, bridging the gap, connecting them.
Turn your car to 2nd accessory, and do as follows by counting the blinks
Long blinks are 10's
short and fast are singles.

For example, if your throwing say a code 41 (o2 sens i think, just as an example)
it would go like this

1.) 2nd accessory is engaged, all the lights will come on as normal, like when it is all the time. After that, then your CEL sequence will begin

say its code 41
It would be like
____ ____ ____ ____ _

4 long blinks, and 1 short one = code 41.

get a paper clip and stick one end of it to one side of the connecter, and the other end to the other side. Do this and count the number of times it blinks. Long = +10, and short = 1. There might be multiple codes

Your running in limp mode if your CEL is on. If its the O2 sensor you gotta change it. Its messing up your milage and you wont be able to hit VTEC. When i was low on funds once and had to replace mine, I took it out and cleaned it really well with carb or break cleaner? Can't remember. Search because there are threads on how to do this. Just a quick fix. The best thing to do is replace the correct 02 sensor. Good luck.

go to autozone (or what ever parts store you have) and have the run a scan on it...they can tell you what it is for free...My guess is an o2 sensor

Thats what i get for not reading the whole post...When you get a new sensor get a universal o2 sensor it will save you a lot of money...all you do is cut the plug off the old and put it on the new one...

This is not true for all CEL's - not all throw the car into "limp" mode

edit***
You said 4 short blinks? That isnt 2ndary o2....
4 CKP - crank position sensor

I don't think his application is requiring anything more, and it will save him money. I have personally ran bosch o2's and had no problems, as well as a bosh wideband sensor on my wrx with no problem.
