Default Is my GSR accelerating slow?

I have a JDM GSR in my Civic, and I noticed that accelerating below 4400, especially in 1st gear, takes forever. Before with my SOHC, I could go WOT and it would rev pretty quick. Is this normal for the GSR? I'm thinking I could adjust the timing and fix it, but when I checked it last, it was at 16 BTDC. Mods I have are I/H/E, ACT HDSS and Clutchmaster 7.5lb flywheel.

The reason I ask this is because when I drag race, I have to launch at 6K or else it will bog down to like 3500. I've heard from other people they launch at no more than 4K. I included a video of me going in first gear. As soon as I turn, I am at WOT. Normal or not? Let me know. Thanks.

there must be something wrong because with that flywheel it would rev up twice as fast as your singlecan used to. for me first gear is almost non existent i'm through it in not even 2 seconds. one way to check it out is on the dyno, that way you can tune at the same time.

How is your normal acceleration in the other gears?

Just some FYI

The Honda Integra SiR-G is basically the Japanese-market equivalent of a USDM (US-market) Integra GS-R. GS-Rs never existed in Japan.

it sounds to me like a problem -- it should be feeling much quicker than your civic engine

Yeah, you should get to redline in first gear rather quickly.

Ok, now that we know there's a problem, what could be causing it and how do I fix it?

Hey 4doortegsir, do you have a JDM ECU and engine?

my first suggestion is swap out your ecu with one of your buddies to see if that corects it, if not id go to checking the timing is set right. but it sounds like an ECU problem, my friend had a chipped P72 on his Gsr and it was set for all top end power, it bogged hard till 4500 (vtec) and then raped.

Do the JDM B18C's have the stupid dual intake manifold?

If so, make sure it's wired properly.

Yeah, everything seems just fine after VTEC hits. And yes JDM do have the dual intake manifold. My best time in the 1/4 mile was 14.7 in my heavy EX.

Jesse was thinking the same thing I was.

Make sure you have the intake butterflies (IAB) wired up. I think it's a pink wire. And make sure you're running an ECU that supports IAB.

Yeah my first gear goes fast, from a red light at WOT first gear is done pretty much the time I am through the intersection. Not that I drive that way on the streets ...

Dual butterflies and VTEC are wired correctly.

So far, we have the following things that could be causing it:
Timing belt off
Messed up ECU

Anything else?

I just watched your video and I dont see a problem with accelerating slow. Like itr206 said, usually VTEC motors dont have low end torque.

Didn't notice the video until now but it sounds fine to me. You're not gonna have power in any gear at that RPM.
