900rr > any 1000 before it.

i hope this isnt going to be your first bike though.
if it isnt, i'd go 900rr if i was looking for an older liter bike.

No, it sounds like his dad is buying it for himself and letting the OP ride it.

Do either of you have riding experience?

Seems like a fair choice to learn on if your with your pop. the biggest draw back is that they are heavy in literal weight and handling, But they are more than a capable bike. you can do some good distance with the ergonomic layout on this thing to. but be prepared to drop than fully enclosed bike, specially if you smallish

I agree the 900rr is the 'better' bike but the 900rr is much more to handle than a hurricane IMHO especially for a new rider

agreed. which is why i asked if this is going to be his first bike.

to the OP:

I think you should look elsewhere for a bike. a "modern" liter bike (i use quotations because it is mid 90's which isnt modern but isnt very old) will be too much. it'll be heavy, wont be very easy to handle, and probably wont be as fun as an f2/f3.

remember those Honda commercials that had a bunch ninjas (like people ninjas) and then you saw a storm coming, and it said, "Even Ninjas can't escape the Hurricane"

or something to that effect

I've always liked that bike, do it!

Just be safe and get MSF, gear, and insurance.
