This was something that I coming into this, didn't think they could accomplish in a weekend, but they proved me wrong. I just sat around taking pics the whole time, took them about 16hrs total to complete over the course of the weekend.
i got there around 11am (sleep is good), by that time, they had already removed the intake manifold, all turbo components, and accessories. pretty much just had the longblock/tranny sitting in the engine bay by this time.

come on edwin, show the camera what you've got

me, and these guys were on standby, just in case there was something that they couldn't handle, unfortunately, we were never needed.

sad moment for all of us (sike), a fallen D17a2...

empty engine bay, wow, so many hoses/wires. they had this motor out in about 3-4hrs.

fully built motor, yep, it's a monster.

clutch/flywheel installed

happy moment, tranny and everything else installed, ready to go to its new home

almost in

in, now installing axles, downpipe, and everything else - this lift came in very useful, i couldn't imagine not having a lift for this, it'd be a bitch

installing more stuff from the top, turbo manifold, intake manifold, wiring, etc.

messy interior.

all done! very nice valve cover

tuning, somewhat

going out for the first spin, it started on the first crank.

ran a couple of laps around the parking lot, making sure everything is ok, and it was except for a minor idle problem.

it was a great experience, i was hesitant coming into this but everything went according to plan, for the most part. i know he'll chime in to answer any of your questions, he's going next week for tuning and dyno, so don't ask about numbers yet.

yeah, thats me.
The only problem we had was a bad o-ring on the water pipe. We were almost ready to rock on saturday night.... around 630 we started filling the motor and it sprung a water leak. The IM had to come out to fix it which took another hour ish, but we went back to it sunday morning and had it fired up by 10 am.
Despite all the work, I think we had some major fun doing it... tuning on tuesday, expecting some serious numbers. Its street tuned for the time being, running very well and basically cruises like a stock car.
Thanks for taking pics Freddy
