Remove valve cover+timing cover, remove belt, remove head, replace gasket, install is reverse of removal.
Seriously its fairly straighforward, the smaller details that you need will be outlined in a service manual, along with the torque specs for the head, so just spend the 10 dollars and make your life much easier.

Its pretty straight forward, get a service manuel for your car, they will show you (in pictures) step by step of how to do it. Haynes is a good choice of a manuel. Any autostore will carry ones for most cars, civics are popular, you shouldnt have trouble fiding one.
like others have said get a repair manual . it is probably one of the most important things you will buy for your car especially if you want to do most of the repairs your self another thing you may want to consider for your current project is taking the head to a machine shop to get it checked for warpage and cracks also if you have the funds to do it you may just want to get the head re worked it can save you the cost and headache of having to remove the head again in the near future but if your a little strapped for cash at least get the head checked otherwise you may find that after putting your new head gasket on you have the same problems as you did before.
