exhaust temp
yoink, im just playing around with an idea, but genrally what heat ranges to exhausts run up to heat wise? i know a manifold gets baking hot, just more curious about the cat back area?
cheers

u wanna try aluminum catback? hehe...
did some number look up before, for NA, right out of the engine is about 800-1000, and FI is about 1200-1400. And i was told that the temperature "quickly" fall off... i would "assume" after cat would still be about 600ish just to be safe...
i don't have any infrared temperature reader, i was going to aim that at the cat to have a better guesstimate.
if you have a infrared scanner, try it out.

Uk brother.
Uk brother.
no, actully i was looking at plastic :lol: (seriously) the stuff they make riot sheilds is ment to be good for a constant 600 deg celcius. just thinking how easy it would be to make a batch as opposed to having to weld a load of pipe together :lol:
crazy *** idea that went out of the window when i sobered up :lol:
cheers

No expert, but I would think that the problem with polymers is that the chemicals/gases found in the exhaust stream can break down the bonds without using expensive resin's. I'd stick with metals. If you design it right, there shouldn't be much welding (unless your rolling your own tubing
)
