And just giving the guy a simple answer would be even BETTER.

i was giving him a simple answer, you must of thought i was being an ***, well guess what I WASN'T!

questions like this get asked everyday, it would probably faster and easier to get the answer he's looking for if he just spent some time there.

If you do it right it will lay down better numbers than a itr motor

if you use the gsr head you will have higher compression by 0.2 and they flow the same or rather the gsr flows a weeeeee better.

ITR head is lower compression by like 0.2 and check this out from H-T(https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1767009):

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by dohcMONSTER &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Lately I have seen tons of mis information on here about heads and which ones flow better than others. Well here you go, this is flow chart comparing both a p72 (GSR head) and a pr3 (B16 head). I am not here to argue about which one is better, I simply posting information so take it however you wish.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

They also have a dyno of the 2 heads further down the post...............GSR FTW!

If the op uses a stock b16 head on the gsr block then yes he will loose a tad bit of power and a slight drop in cr. But if the OP did a mild PNP to the b16a head, then it will flow much better then gsr head and have a higher cr, and to the OP put higher cr pistons to match up with the gsr or itr cr's. I suggest JDM ITR or JDM CTR piston or better yet forged internals. This is if you plan on building the "poor mans type-r", then you'll outperform a gsr and itr along with other supporting mods.

This is a very reliable set up. I had it on my hatch w/ no problems.

Did you increase the CR in your poorman's type-r, or did you keep it all stock?

A true poorman's type R can get as costly as just buying a type R.

I am 3/4 done with my not-so-poor-man's-R and now looking back I should have just gone H2B and had better numbers in stock form.

GSR block - 600.00
P30 pistons/pins and oem rings 275.00
OEM main/rod bearings and thrustwashers 300.00 +/-
Type R head 600.00
Supertech valvetrain 500.00 +/-
Head gasket, timing belt, water pump, tensioner 170/00 +/-

I had to buy some additional bolts for my head so about 100.00 for that and a few o-rings that didn't come in my set.
But I went down to bare block and replaced everything.

Fluids add another roughly 100.00 coolant, oil, filter, tranny fluid.

I had a B16 longblock but sold the head and bought a real R head. Didnt matter though cuz now I am having port and polish, resurfacing that I wasn't expecting and a valve job so that delayed me.

I am shooting for 12.0:1 compression ratio now that I will have a resurfaced head but was aiming for around 11.8:1 with P30's and flatfaced valves.

Since I already had the Y21 LSD tranny a H22 longblock for 1100.00 and the evolution kit for 1300.00 would have been well under what I spent on my B18.

But either way I am gunning for 200 to the wheels on a mustang dyno. Will I reach? Maybe, maybe not.

Good luck.
