does anyone have a b20vtec setup? just looking for maintnence level...i heard b20's are HELL to maintain, and you might need a better clutch than a stock clutch because you get no traction.....is this true>?

It's not hell to maintain it unless the block is built right like this! https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1992114

no. just change your oil on time and don't use trash oil and don't rev it to 15,000 rpm. Even though the link i showed you above is being built right i still wouldn't rev it past 8500 MAX RPM.

roflmao, i think he's being sarcastic. Why would your car be hard to maintain if you build it right?

Your power band probably drops at 8,500 anyway...

And thegreat0ne meant that you said it wrong You said B20V is hard to maintain if it's built right.

It's still going to be hard to maintain anyway. It's not a factory produced motor.. there are things you can definitely do to avoid common problems of mix matching heads and blocks but all-in-all you would have less problems with a B16/GSR/ITR motor.

from waht i understand there is also a high compression b20 and a low compression b20......something like a pr4 head and a diff head for that spec motor......i purchased a used motor from motorworld for about $775 with about 30,000 miles. was this a good deal? my motor is supposed to be a 1999 b20b with the high compression head......140hp and 150-160ft torque ......i think this motor isnt going to get much traction either....

the heads shouldn't have any diff. the 2 types of b20's are the b20b and the b20z with the z having slightly higher compression

some jdm b20's came with the p8r head. it had 84mm combustion chambers and vtec sized intake valves. pretty good flowing head but not so easy to find.
