Default Performance Cats... Please help...

I am putting together a full performance exhaust system. I am looking for a really good Catalytic Converter. Can anyone give me some suggestions and maybe HP gain? Also, I am still curious about a good performance muffler. Not an expensive muffler, just a good performance one(Under $100). Thanks a lot.

EDIT - What length of catalytic converter do I need to get? Does it matter?

well for a cheap performance exhaust, you could go:

catco cat convertor - $50 for universal one or $100 for custom one
magnaflow resonator - $50
ES straight-through design muffler - $100-$150 (ES mufflers are stock looking)

then you gotta pay for custom piping, if you go for mandrel-bent piping thats more expensive.

What are your smog limitations if any, I would just gut your cat. Better than any other aftermarket cat you could get.

actually gutting your cat is not the way to go. if you want to keep it stock looking, gut it and put a piece of pipe in there.. otherwise you screw yourself flow wise.. the exhaust expands and then chokes up when it hits the pipe again.

i learned the hard way

gutted cat = 30% loss in MPG
