Whenever i floor the gas petal in 1st or 2nd, my tires would just peel out for days like it's getting no traction. Even when i downshift 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Is getting no traction a suspension thing? I heard they have traction bars for sale, but my Question is which do i get? My mods are

-k20a swap (semi-built)
-hasport mounts
-hasport axles
-tokico blue shocks/springs
-eg/dc crossmember/subframe
-oh my car is a 99 hatch

if it's traction bars that i need, what would i get because i dont know where they bolt to? Would it be an eg ek or dc5 traction bar that i get

 

tires? keep your foot off the gas?

if i wanted to brag about it i would have said something earlier last year , anyways. the rims are 15's and tires are azenis rt615

 

would any of you guys suggest the traction bar thing?

Drag slicks and traction bar will help fix that, what it will do to your budget and your cars streetability are another thing.....^^

Seriously, you need to learn to step off the gas, traction problems through first and 2nd are common, so you cant just floor it on street tires. Welcome to the world of high powered FWD hondas. ^^

traction bars better tires maybe some sort of drag radial larger wheels a few things that might help.Do you have lsd?

 

traction bars and better tires will definitely help. you can also up the width if your rim allows.

Indeed. Do you have a stiff spring setup? If not, it may be worth it to look into because of the weight transfer. However, you can buy all the stuff you want to try and reduce the traction loss, but the truth is the lil car's got more power and TORQUE (by a lot) than it was built for, and she's gonna break free every time you floor it like that. I'd say the best mod for your problem is to change your driving style. Learn to launch without stepping on it right away, or just drive around town on slicks, lol.

well, tokico suspension is pretty soft, that helps wheelhop and takes weight from the front of the car and moves it to the back. Thats what you want in a RWD car, not FWD.

You need:

fender braces, traction bar, front EG/DC subframe reinf bar, good tires, stiffer suspension, etc...

ahm.. if u really swap that motor in yourself. a traction control wouldnt really be a problem for you to fix.

 

you have no traction because you learned to race from paul walker. you are not suppose to floor the gas on street tires if you have decent power.

 

yeah something is not right. People drive cars with much more power than yours and don't have this problem. I would look at the driver and not the car. I find it hard to believe that our low tq motors are peeling out even when you are light on the throttle and feathing clutch.

 

instead of just letting the car spin. modulate the throttle its called car control. you can only put so much power down. being fwd dont help either.

the 1-2 shift usually breaks the tires loose because you are are pretty much kicking the cluch to shift fast. this breaks the tires loose when they were either at the limit aready or spinning. worst case you are gettin intense wheel hop.

you can either feather the clutch to second gear or let off really fast and get back on the throttle that usually gets the car to hook.

you may want to consider upgrading the bargain basement suspension components.

and what kind of springs? spring rates?

 

I didn't see this mentioned above, but are you sure it's not your clutch thats slippingit feels very similar to tires spinning. The first time I drove my b16b EK I slammed on the gas and it went straight to the rev limiter but still grabbed a little then I slammed 2nd gear same thing then I slammed 3rd, same thing... then I realized it wasn't my tires that were slipping

 

If someone has enough experience to put in a K series motor, or at least knows where to get the parts, and has other people do it, i would think they would at least get the fact that your going to get allot of tire spin from that motor on street tires, worn or new. Have you never seen videos of 92-00 hatchs\coupes with K20s? They can spin 3rd gear for christ sake, lol, of course your going to spin 1st and 2nd if your getting too hard on it. Worn tires dont help tho, look into newer, and better tires.

You wouldn't happen to have an aggressive aftermarket clutch or anything would you? Just puttin' it out there. A bud of mine had an LS/VTEC with a 6 puck springless, and always lost traction.
