engine swap + tranny swap at once?
I currently drive a 95 civic sedan with a d15b7.
I'm not a car genius but ive decided to go with the LS and will be doing the swap with a friend during the summer. there are a lot of writeups that show engine swaps and tranny swaps separately. I'm purchasing a complete change over LS engine (/w tranny) taht will come with all parts to do a engine swap. My question is, are the same parts required for a tranny swap in the complete changeover I'm going to purchase?
I know you have to get the pedal assembly and get the manual shift boot. I know the question is a bit confusing, but does anybody know what parts I need?
So basically, with my purchase of the complete changeover (LS), what other items are needed to complete the auto --> manual tranny swap?
thanks.
i did an auto to manual swap on my Ford Escort. Havent done one on a Honda cuz mine already is a stick. But from doing my Escort, you're goin to need the slave cylinder, brake master cylinder, 5spd ECU for the LS motor u're getting, axles 94+ i believe, pedal cage(clutch pedal, brake, and gas, this took a lot of time taking out and puttin on my escort but its one whole assembly unless u wanna just add the pedal), all LS mounts, shift linkage (do urself a favor and get a hydro tranny), might as well buy a new clutch, LS throttle cable, and i think thats it for now
if u get a OBD2 engine and since ur car, just like mine, is OBD1, get an OBD1 LS ECU, everything including "engine" wiring harness will connect and should run w/o any problems. I know mine did. There are only "5" connectors to hookup. 3 on the battery firewall side and 2 on the driver firewall side. The LS swap is a piece of cake.
In my Escort, the shift linkage was a perfect fit because the auto shifter and manual shifter bolted up the same, i believe its different in a Civic, but its easy to get the shifter bolted.
Thats all i can think of right now.
