Question regarding cylinder rust (A little theory also...)
Well, I'm getting ready to pick up a new beater, but it has rusty cylinder walls. I had a single cam that I left in my backyard for over a year that ran flawlessly after sitting. Am I correct in assuming that the cylinder walls in that would have rusted also?
Here's a pic for reference:

If I try to clean it up a little bit, do you think i'd be able to get away with just slapping a head on it? If worse comes to worse, I can just find another long block.
Thanks,
Lamar

id be more concernd with getting the head gasket to seal all the way, you need to clean up the deck of the block the cylenders could probably use a little wd40
I'm pretty sure I can get the HG to seal, I just don't want to spend $100 putting this thing back together, just to find out that I need another $100 motor.
