key won't come out of ignition
I bought a Honda Civic DX Hatch @ the junkyard, it was a theft veichle. I replaced the ignition the thieves broke off. I can start the car, but the ignition solonoid won't release the key unless I disconnect the battery first. Have you ever heard of this problem before?? What should I do?? The shifter was messed up also (it is an automatic) and I fixed that too. They forced it and bent the lock pin. I bent it back and it is working properly now.
Thanks for any suggestions!!

probably the shift position switch is bad so the car thinks it's not in park the " P " on the gauge should be lit up if not or you don't have a auto cluster that could be the problem if all else fails just unplug the solinoid!
I ended up unpluging the ignition solonoid and the key comes out w/ battery still hooked up. I am still baffeled by what was causing the problem to begin with. Also curious what purpose the ignition solonoid serves. Thanks for the advice.
The SRS light is on, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Removed shift position switch and cleaned it w/ canned air and rubbing alcohol. Still no help, but the P lights up on the dash. D2 lights up only for a second when car is first started.
