What you're hearing is probably compressor surge, from charge air hitting your t/b and flowing back and hitting your compressor wheel. Try adjusting your BOV. The fact that you're not hearing the BOV probably means it's not opening, and thus you're getting compressor surge, which is bad for the turbo.

you should only hear your BOV bw shifts. if you hear something like a FVVOOO FVOOO SHHHH noise, its just your wastegate dumping off excess boost. make sure all your lines are ran correctly

what BOV do you have? if its a HKS SS BOV... usually setting it at half of the screw is cool.

I can almost garuntee you are hearing your BOV, when you first get a turbo you ASSUME ALL BOV's sound like PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH, well they don't espectially at low boost... my BOV sounds like a flutter or bird also, compressor surge is a much nastier sound that sounds like its coming from the driver side... make not of when you hear it if it sounds like its coming from the passenger side more then your side...

Easy way to test is boost, let off, boost, let off rapidly to hear the sound over and over. I'll bet its your BOV

adjusting it doesn't make it louder. it just stiffens/softens the valve.

VORTECH bov just sounds like that, I have the same one you do... live with it. A nice BOV typical sound will cost you a nice buck that could be better spent on a new clutch, standalone, etc... you get the point... besides even with nice ones you usually have to be running higher boost to get that sound.

its most likely your gasket on your wastegate. Mine blew out easily and i got a flutter sound. I have the hks ssq and mine does not make a bit of flutter sound. Just a nice loud clean pshhhhhhhhhhhh. Make sure it is hooked up to its own vacume souce.

The flutter sound, sounds like a giggle right ? That's the BOV and it is true that it normally takes a higher boost level to attain that sound. My BOV makes it... I love it ! Sounds kinda like a Joker laughing... que cool !

Hey intekgra gsr, how much boost are you running? and what do u mean hooked up to its own vacuum source? right now i have it teed of the intake manifold.. is that good? i tried to play with the adjuster bolt thing on the bov, can somebody clarify what this actually does? thanks.

try to get a single source for the BOV and see if it'll help...

instead of tapping a few into one vaccum source, try to just use one for the BOV, most of the time, it'll help...

Problem is unless you tapped your own intake mani... where else besides the FPR -> IM are you gonna tea off for vacumm?

Haven't dynoed the car yet, still look for a shop in jersey or the city that I would trust with my car... reputable shops around here are apparently hard to find. I need some tuning :D
