auto to stick swap?
how hard would it be for me to go from an automatic to a standard in my 1992 hatch cx? I just picked the car up for $100. The sad thing is there is nothing wrong, at all.

ive done an auto to manual in my 2g Escort, its real easy. The Escort is more easier than the Civic cause everything was just swap in, swap out.
I believe the auto and manual shifter boltings are different, im not sure just goin by what i heard.
U're gonna need the 5spd tranny of course, slave cylinder and reservoir, brake master cylinder????, axles, shift linkage, 5psd ECU, Pedal cage w/clutch pedale, throttle cable i believe, and at one time i heard the Intake manifold, have to double check on this. thats about it i think
In the Escort, i had to take the ignition off and stick something like a paper clip to jam some shift lock thingy. gotta find my pics of what i did. I can start my Escort w/o pressing in the clutch!!! Gotta be careful tho, cuz when other ppl drive my car, they leave it in gear and i start the car up not knowing they had it in gear, LMAO!!!

you have to cut some of the chasis flooring away, not that hard at all, if you havent ever done a b series swap, clutch job, or anything major, skip it alot of honda tech "backyard" mechanics cant figure it out ill buy it off you for 300 bucks, chances are you cant swing the swap why not tripple your money?
are you saying you wanna buy the car off me? I would sell the car for anyless than 500. It has no rust, runs and drives. Your nuts. I has a b18c5 in my grage waitting for the right swap. pm me for more info.
What about doing a auto to stick in a 98 dx? i pick it up from a buddy for 500$. it was a southern car but the hood poped open at 50mph and he wrecked the bumper so i put my old 1991 talon bumper on it... but same steps for a 98 dx?
its not that hard but you can sell that car for more than 500. or better yet advertise it on craigslist that your looking to trade for a manual car might get lucky

I'm gonna pretend like i didn't just read that....
Auto to manual consists of the following:
5spd tranny, shift linkage, new ecu or current ecu conversion (quite simple to do on OBD1 ecu's), flywheel, clutch, a jumper for the park safety switch, reverse light wiring for the switch on the tranny, shift boot, pedal assembly (cage in the 96-00 uses brake and gas pedal on one, clutch on the other. If you just get a manual brake pedal, and the clutch pedal with it's cage your good), clutch master cylinder, clutch reservoir, clutch hydraulic line, clutch slave cylinder on the tranny, shift ****, shifter itself, and that's about it.
On the OBD2 cars the IACV is a three wire on auto cars, so going to 5spd ecu will likely require basic wiring and a two pin IACV on that.

Get a manual parts car or trade the auto for a stick.
I had a parts car, but it wasn't that bad...1-2 hours with 3 people working on it back and forth.
Get the master cylinder, all the lines that run along the firewall, linkage, clutch pedal, and an auto to manual transmission mount (Hasport makes one)....it's pretty much a bolt-up type of thing, but running the lines is 10x easier with no motor in the car.

ok. Sound good enoff for me. I guess i am just going to wait till i put my b18c5 in it. I guess i won't be that hard because i have all the stick stuff for an integra. Will those parts work on in?
Not sure about that.
I just used my parts car (Civic EX)....I know that the Integras/Civics of those years share a lot of similarities, but I'm not sure if they're THAT similar.

Have you done one?
People make it out to be SO much worse than it really is. If you can do a motor swap, then you can do an auto to manual swap, end of discussion.
