I'm going to be running new OEM axles on my boost setup. I know they'll probably break soon enough considering the amount of power I'll be running (over 15-20psi). In the event that they do break.. Which axles would you recommend? Should I stay with OEM, or get aftermarket axles that are stronger. If so, where would I get said axles?

First thing is 15-20psi doesn't tell us much about what kinda power your expecting or have with this mystery turbo setup.

Second thing I'll say learn how to drive and stick with OEM. You would be surprised how much they can hold if used correctly. I have seen stage 5 DSS axels and hubs broken because of badds drivers. I have seen OEM axle civic go 10.0.

 

my stage 3 clutch @ 275whp snapped my axles running Nexen N3000s OE axles are crap in my book, snapped both at the same time (during an autocross run, blah)

Oh i know how to drive, axles need to learn how not to break. Im not going to ride my 300 dollar clutch to save some 50 dollar axles. AutoX you go all out or you go home.

Buddy of mine went through 11 on one side and 9 on the other in 1 summer :D

but I have heard really good things about Gator axles.

Do more research before you run your useless yapp about something you know nothing about! I cut consistent 1.6 60 foots. My bad launches are low 1.7's. I leave on 9-11 psi which is more power then your car makes!!!

10.94@138 1.62 60ft tractions owns me after the 330 That pass of 10.94 was with a quaife and stock axels, on open diff stock axles fastest I have been was 11.03 @ 137

I am actually running a GATOR Stage 2/3 with stock Hubs. why did I go with aftermarket axles? Got a decent deal on them and my car sees quite a bit of extremely abusive RoadRace time. The boots on them are very strong and Ive yet to have the slightest issue with them. 20k miles+/1500mi Track Time/50+ 1/4 mile passes on Slicks/Drag Radials.

First off I made a reply to the thread just as you did. You have your opinion I have mine that is all.

Second your the one making foolish statements about my car that you had no idea of I just told you how it is. END of story. As far as your 240 goes, pull it out of the garage drive it to Maryland. If you beat me you eat me oh well. I dont care. But a garentee your prelude can't do the same thing with either one of mine. You have a turd of a prelude so your in the prelude forum talking about a 240. I'll get the cobalt and run your 240 if your talking enough money and actually make it past my prelude.

I have been a tech since 98 and working for honda since 99 and make damn good money. I have made my own car fast along with so many other preludes. I went 12's in my prelude on drags over 5 years ago. I am willing to bet you haven't done to this day. So once you catch up to what I did 5 years ago come see me.

You stuck your foot in your own mouth. I have put together junk motor setups in my basement with **** I had laying around that will bust your terd of a preludes *** anyday of the week. And those are the non turbo ones .

Its all good though.....I gave him a little insight on GATORS...
I saw it as $550 for Gators or about the same for Brand New OEMs. I toyed with the idea of Raxles or Parts Store axles but it seemed like everyones cheaper axles failed and were no where near OEM quality. Al people bragged about was the lifetime warranty. Personally if I am breaking Cheap axles left and right I am going to be wasting time/energy swapping them.
I usually suggest that people let their stockers break 1st, not a bad idea to have new axles as a back up wherever you go. I have odne alot of Long Distance driving to races, so a break down is not an option.

 

Its kind of hard to have a conversation on this forum with someone, when all these *** guzzling ball washers are riding your coat tails, Ive been racing since I was 15 and building engines since i can remember...When i get the spair time i would love to race you in my 240, my prelude, yes its slower then yours but i never said it was faster. I recently (last year) got into preludes and from the crowd (LSx crowd) i came from seems that 90% of these people are *** kissing bitches trying to be the top dogs favorite. And you coming at me like you did, for simply stating an opinion is just another example of how you think your the ****, you might have a quick prelude..but thats all it is, when you wake up in the morning its still a prelude..so dont act like your king of everything automobile. I know SEVERAL domestic and Supra guys that would love to rip your little oe axle lude a new one. I simply built my car as a fun DD and weekend Autoattack, so get the *** off your damn soap box.

I stated my opinion from personal experience and what works for me. I was making a reply to ImPuLsIvE NOT YOU. So.... I didn't come at you any which way as you claimed I did. Go back and look at my first post again and who it was directed to.

I have helped countless people on this board mainly the prelude forum. I don't think I am better then anybody else I put my pants on 1 leg at a time like everyone here does. If i had the I am better then everyone thing going on why would I bother helping people with the setups to go fast or just normal everyday problems.

I get anywhere from 5 to 15 IMs a day and try my best to help everybody to the best of my ability. Instead I'll just direct them to you so you feel better about yourself and can tell them much more then I ever could.
