Default Ok so a turbo in an 06 base rsx...price / speed / worth it?

Sup guys..I have an 06 rsx base 5 spd manual..I threw on an AEM short ram for the hell of it not too long ago. This summer I am working pretty much non-stop so I was wondering what the turbo options for base rsx's are and how much it would cost including installation.

Another thing I'm concerned about it is speed / 1/4 mile time..What would you estimate a turbo rsx to run (I'm going to assume low 14's with a cheaper setup but thats just a guess with no facts behind it).

Anyway..if any of yall have done a similar project, I'd really appreciate set up advice and experiences you've had. I need this to be a reliable daily driven car so nothing too over the top..

Thanks

how fast you want to go will vary on how much you are going to spend
on average i would guess low 14s

pm Korean. He had a Greddy turbo kit on his base. If I remember, with the stock boost setting it was only pushing a little over 200whp.

I would like to know this as well. Right now, I too have an AEM Short Ram and 2 1/4" cat-back.

What kit would be most cost-efficient and would I need to do any other upgrades to the car (fuel system) or are stock parts good enough for 6.5 to 7 pounds?

psi is not an accurate measure for engine durability. Stock engine could handle 15 psi with a small turbo but not even 5 psi with a huge turbo. I've been told a stock k20a3 could handle enough boost to get 275 whp. Tune, injectors, fuel pump.

^^He's right.

They say rule of thumb is 8psi for stock motors but it's hard to differentiate 8psi as different size turbos flow different cfm.

I'm not really sure what goes down with the base model, but Iv seen Two Rsx type S's catch on fire b/c of the greddy kit so if you get it make sure you change the oil lines.

With that said, All you have to do is piece together your own kit, and turn up the boost until you hit 260-300whp, (depends on how long you want it to last). I'm not sure what that would run in an RSX, but in a integra that would be good for around 12.7 (300whp) quarter mile.

People say stock honda motors can handle about 300whp, but its still going to give out ALOT sooner, so dont expect the motor to last too long, even with a good tune, it will give out sooner or later.

i know someone with a bone stock ( motor ) with a small turbo setup and he was fine when he was tuned at 8 pounds, <-- about 6 months then boosted it at 10 pounds and blew it! <--- but then again it might be for other reasons. =/

I just want you guyz to keep in mind, that i know how to drive and etc, but with all machine inside i have no idea how it works. Thats why im asking experts here. I just wanted to know what is my best option, turbo or supercharger for the acura rsx 2005 base manual. Now also how much is it, and how much would it cost to put that in. I'm not sure do i have to buy something else before supercharger or turbo kit.
