Default Startup - Driving - Idle problems ++ ...

Well my D16z6 is giving me a bunch of problems, if there were a cliff in Anaheim I would drive it off it. Anyhow, I recently fixed a stuck plug that I thought was the cause of most of these symptoms, but having fixed that issue, the problems are still there. Now for the symptoms

1. At startup, whether the car is hot or cold, I will turn the car over and it will start to sputter (sort of like a lawn mower starting up). Now sometimes it wont do it. I can start it up fine and drive around, then go to start it again and it will sputter.

2. When im driving and go to accelerate, sometimes the car will not go past 3k or even 5k sometimes. Its almost like when you hit rev limiter.

3. At idle at needle is sitting at almost zero, the timing has been set, the TB gasket has been replace also

4. And finally i come to the fluctuating idle. After warm-up I will proceed to drive, but when I come to a stop the idle will start to fluctuate as if I have a vacuum leak or a cam. I dont have either because I check for leaks, but I will drive for a little bit more and it will go away.

I apologize in advance if any of the descriptions are vague, Im currently at work and typed this as fast as I could on break. Any input/help is appreciated. Im waiting on my Helms manual to come in so that should help with whatever i need to fix.

How many miles? Stock/mods? Have you done any maintenance do it recently? Why did you replace the throttle body gasket initially?

The motor iteself is around 90-95k. I have changed the oil (3k miles) and had a tune up within 6k miles. I took it into the mechanic to have the idle looked at the same time he did the tune up, he cleaned the TB and changed the gasket in hopes of correcting the idle(along with adj. the screw). It has minor mods, I/H/E (2" piping w/ cat,resonator, and ES)

What did the tune-up include? But adjusting the idle screw is the absolute last thing that should be done on an otherwise stock car when it's having idling problems.

So what's the rest of the history: You go out to start your car one day and the idle is messed up. Did you try and fix it in some way? And because you couldn't, you ended up taking to this mechanic? What had you done, if anything? What was this "stuck plug" about? A spark plug...or electrical plug?

Have you changed the O2 sensor, fuel filter and set the valve lash?

The tune up included rotor/cap, plugs, and wires and also a valve adjustment. When the tune up was done he noticed the #2 spark plug was stuck and didnt want to take a chance to try and force it out and strip the threads, so he left it. The car had been sputtering at start up for a while so I decided to attempt to pull out the spark plug. Bought some pb blaster, but didnt have to use it. My buddy told me to just warm up the car and he forced it out (i couldnt watch). All these problems started after the tune up and after finding the stuck plug. We fixed the plug problem last week and it is still giving me problems. The 02 sensor has been changed in the past year, but the fuel filter has not been chance since I have owned the car. It currently has no CEL codes and only minor oil leaks that seem to be from my vtec solenoid, dizzy o-ring, or crush washer on the oil pan. I just received my Helms manual so I was planning on doing the fuel filter, solenoid gasket (top), checking the dizzy o-ring and ordering a new pan and gasket since mine is dented to hell. And now that the plug is out, doing a full plug,wire,cap replacement. Thing is that im in the process of buying tools so I have to use my buddy's. So whenever i get the time go over, usually the weekends, I can fix it. And this is my DD(and only car until i get my bike)so i need it for work.

Edit: And i really appreciate your help EE_Chris.
