Default Just picked up an 00 Si, what now?

I just picked up an '00 black Si and wanted to say what's up to the forum. I'm excited to start working on it, but I can't seem to lock down a solid source of quality parts for our cars. Seems like everything nowadays is STi, Evo, etc etc.

What I'm looking for is some fine examples of Civic Si builds. Mainly bolt on comparisons, nice interior mods, etc.

In any event, if someone can drop me a few sites that have some quality info and some recommendations for some good aftermarket parts, that'd be great.

For starters, where can I find a friggin CTR shift ****? lolol

Thanks again,
Jason

Ebay, just get name brand stuff from good sellers. We also have a sponsor marketplace here on honda-tech.

Honestly I wouldn't waste my time with bolt ons on a b16. You're likely to spend $500 making your car .01% faster than it is.

If I just purchases a minty Si, I'd de-badge it, and spend about $500 in security. Because they get stolen like they're going out of style and made of gold.

Before you mod, spend at least 2-3 weeks on this site researching what other people do interior wise, exterior wise, and performance wise. Then base your ideas off of what you've seen and whether or not you like it.

I've been theorizing on modding my car for 3 years. Nothing done yet, I have a lot of opinion based knowledge on car modding.

x2, also forgot to mention your goals, what you plan on doing with or to your car. If your a virgin into the import scene, and want to obtain knowledege about mods, aftermarket parts, etc. Then keep your guard up and do lots of reading and research, lots of ignorant people will tell you to do random things to your car as if it was theirs. Stick to your guns, since its your car and your the one who paid for it. What most people would say, I/H/E is the most basic upgrade you can do. Use your money wisely after that, because with those upgrades you won't notice anything different but the sound of your car.

i agree...you can get boltons but security comes first. What security should you get??? Any alarm from DEI, Viper, clifford and etc....research and research before you buy anything bro, trust me. Some of us here has learned it the hard way buying **** without researching and in the end the parts crap out on us. welcome to the family and hope your build goes well.

seriously, i know people above me have already mentioned it, but FORTIFY YOUR CAR WITH SECURITY.

an alarm is not enough. get kill switches and some other device, like clutch lock or autolock.

beyond that, i say lower the car and do suspension first. then work from there.

security system is a must with honda's, if a theif wants to steal it he/she will jump over mountains just to have your vehicle or what it contains. fuel cut off switches, battery relocation, first and secondary alarm, hood cable relocation, detachable steering wheel, floor lock, hidden kill switches, wire harness mod where you can plug and unplug your ecu anytime, too many to list. If I was an electrical genius with a lot of time I would create a security system that gives an instant shock of electricity like an electric chair where the electrical current passes through your hands or feet, if tampering with the e-brake, any of the pedals or moving the shifter in any gear or even messing with the ignition system. Might sound stupid but could work.

1st step = CTR CAMS
2nd step = 4.785 final + LSD

Cool, yeah I wanted to get an alarm, but I wasn't really that hurried to get one. I do live in the city for the next few months so I guess I should have one put in soon.

As far as parts go, it already has a thermal exhaust, some kind of crappy intake with an aem filter, msd ignition, tein springs (not sure what kind) and kyb 8 ways. Oh yeah and some ghey wheels with jap kanji symbols (im sure they're terrific quality )

So yeah I guess I will get a decent alarm, then put a respectable stereo in it, then do wheels.

Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome!

Lo jack has a great history of finding your car, it's just usually 24-48 hours after.

There are better tracking systems out there.

Well they do have an early warning system now, where if your car moves without your authorization, someone from lo jack will notify you.

killaj12 couldn't have said it better, suspension first.

alarm system is also very imp.....Viper would be a good choice.....preferably the one that tells u which part of the car is being tampered with.

ALARMS ARENT ENOUGH !!!!!
they help, esp w/ backup battery/sirens but still can be beat
my friend had a clifford 2 way pager, and still got bagged
the security guard HEARD the alarm go off, but thought it was a mistake and didn't do jack ****
thieves can beat regular alarms in less than 10 seconds. no ones gonna suspect anything if they hear it go off.

i'm telling you, LAYER YOUR SECURITY
kill switches cost next to nothing if u install them yourself
autolocks and such arent that much
Philly and jersey is packed with thieves so act accordingly.

seriously, before you do any performance upgrades, fortify your car
why waste money on parts if its going to get jacked?
